Admission Requirements
Thank you for your interest in the SCCOE Dental Assisting Program. As of July 1, 2025, we have closed applications for the 2025-2026 program year. We truly appreciate your enthusiasm and interest. Applications for the 2026-2027 program year will open in February of 2026. Please stay tuned on our website for updates and announcements.
Age - Applicants must be at least 18 years of age before the program start date.
Education - Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Note: If you are a current high school senior applying, please provide a letter from your school counselor confirming that you are on track to graduate and indicating your expected graduation date. If selected, you must submit proof of graduation immediately upon graduation.
Health Clearance - Minimum health clearance requirements ensure the safety and well-being of both patients and dental professionals. We require students submit a TB Test and their Hepatitis B Immunization Record.
Assessment - All applicants are required to complete a CASAS reading comprehension assessment.
Note: Apprenticeship candidates must score at least an 8th-grade reading level on the reading assessment to be considered for the apprenticeship pathway.
For your application to be complete, you must provide the following documents upon submission:
Scan of your CA Identification Card (ID) or Driver's License (DL)
Scan of your High School Diploma, High School Equivalency, or High School transcript showing completion

Scan of your current TB test results
Scan of your Hepatitis B immunization record
Reference Letter – This could be from a current or former teacher or employer who supports your interest in the Dental Assisting program
