Thank you for your interest in the SCCOE Dental Assisting program. Applications for the upcoming program year are now closed. We appreciate the interest and enthusiasm shown by all applicants.

Please note that applications for the 2025-2026 cohort will open in early 2025. Stay tuned for further updates and announcements regarding the application process. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Step 3-  Attend a mandatory program orientation

Frequently Asked Questions (Traditional Pathway)

Will I be required to attend the course orientation.

Yes. Once you have been confirmed into the program, all students will be required to attend the course orientation to learn about requirements for the year. 

How much does the program cost?

The dental assisting program costs $6000. Students interested in financial assistance should contact WIOA as soon as you apply for the program.  For more information visit the WIOA  page or contact  Rita Medina at rmedina@santacruzcoe.org.

Do I need to attend all classes?

Yes-  It is important that participants commit to making all the classes to qualify for certificates of completion.  Certifications include Dental Radiation Safety, Infection Control, Dental Practice Act, CPR, Dental Assisting Certificate, and the Cabrillo Career non-credit Career Skills Certificate. 

Will I need to pay for certification?

All certificates are included in your $6000 fee for the class.  In order to receive the certificates, students must complete all program instructional hours and requirements. 

What materials will I need to bring to class 

Textbook and workbook will be included.   Free WIFI will be provided for students that would like to being personal devices. 

Are there exams/quizzes through the course?

Participants should expect a combination of hands on and written assessments to help prepare for certifications.

Will there be a uniform requirement for the class?

Uniforms are currently not covered under course fees.  Students are required to purchase a uniform for the course.
